An Elegant Tuscan Wedding with Olive Groves, Opera Singers and Festoon-Lit Dining at Sunset
CORAL + JULIA
“Ray shot our wedding in Tuscany over three days. He worked tirelessly to never miss a photo opportunity, his editing was beautiful and end product perfect. Highly recommend”
Julia and Coral’s wedding at Villa di Ulignano in Tuscany was one of those experiences that stays with you.
Set high in the hills near Volterra, the villa is surrounded by the kind of views that make you understand why people talk about Tuscan light the way they do. It’s warm, intense, golden, and completely different to anything we usually get in the UK. The journey up to the villa is an experience in itself, a proper winding Tuscan track, but once you arrive, it all makes sense. The views are extraordinary.
I stayed nearby at Borgo Della Speranza, just moments from Villa di Ulignano. After long days working in 35-degree heat, returning to air conditioning felt like the greatest luxury in the world.
The day before the wedding, Julia and Coral spent time around the pool with their guests before heading into Volterra for welcome drinks. Lucy from Wiskow & White had arranged a beautiful restaurant setting with incredible views across Tuscany, the kind of backdrop that makes the whole weekend feel instantly elevated. It was relaxed, atmospheric, and the perfect way to begin the celebrations.
The wedding day itself was long, hot, intense, and genuinely beautiful.
Coverage started early and carried right through into the night, around 16 hours in total, with very little downtime because of how full the day was. Destination weddings often have their own rhythm, and this one had so much packed into it, from morning preparations to late-night dancing. It was physically demanding, but completely worth it.
Julia and Coral were married on the lawn at Villa di Ulignano, with the Tuscan landscape behind them. It was simple, elegant and incredibly personal, surrounded by their closest people in one of the most beautiful settings you could imagine.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and food in the sunshine, including fresh scallops and beef tartare being prepared by the chef. While everyone settled into the afternoon, we captured family photographs before Julia and Coral had their first look at the reception space and tablescape.
The dinner setting was stunning.
There were heartfelt speeches, napkin twirling, and a surprise tenor who appeared during the meal singing Time to Say Goodbye. It was a proper moment, dramatic, emotional, and completely unexpected for the guests. Coral’s mum was in tears, and honestly, it was one of the standout memories from the whole day.
Later, we headed down to the olive groves for portraits. Paul Van, who was filming the day, suggested using the olive trees rather than the open field at the top, and it was absolutely the right call. The open space would have been beautiful, but the olive groves gave the images more texture, depth and a real sense of place.
Then came the evening.
Omero & Friends brought the energy with DJ sets, bongos, sax and a dance floor that went properly wild. Julia and Coral were up on shoulders, guests were joining in with the music, cigars and cocktails were everywhere, and the whole night had that unmistakable destination wedding chaos, in the best possible way.
The next day, despite the inevitable wedding hangovers, everyone was back around the pool for the final part of the story. A few hours of pool party coverage brought the whole weekend to a close, with pizza, drinks, sunglasses, tired faces, and the obligatory group bomb into the pool.
It was the perfect ending.
Julia and Coral created something incredibly special at Villa di Ulignano. Stylish, emotional, full of atmosphere, and completely their own. Huge credit also goes to Lucy at Wiskow & White for planning such a seamless and beautifully considered few days.
