Stately Romance, Champagne Towers and Editorial Elegance at Wynyard Hall

ABIGAIL + DANIEL

This styled shoot at Wynyard Hall, created by Velvet and Linen, was a beautiful opportunity to create something a little more editorial.

Abigail and Daniel were brilliant to photograph from the start. Although this wasn’t a real wedding, they brought such a natural presence to the shoot, and the styling gave us a chance to create imagery with a more polished, fashion-led feel.

The day began with details from The Orchid Kitchen, including beautifully styled cakes and refined tablescape elements that set the tone for the shoot. From there, we moved into the chapel at Wynyard Hall, one of the venue’s most striking spaces. With its atmosphere, symmetry and soft light, it worked perfectly for black tie portraits and Abigail’s dress looked incredible against the grandeur of the room.

Later in the day, we created portraits around the main entrance of Wynyard Hall before moving inside for the evening setup. The tablescape by Pear Tree Lane Styling was a real highlight, with layered detail, elegant styling and oyster candles that brought something distinctive and chic to the overall look.

One of my favourite features from the shoot was the champagne tower, styled with dry ice to create a dramatic, cinematic effect. It wasn’t there to be drunk, but it photographed beautifully and added a real sense of theatre to the final images.

It’s worth saying clearly that this was a styled workshop, not a real wedding. The images were created in a controlled setting, with time, styling and direction that you wouldn’t usually have in the same way on an actual wedding day. That said, they are a strong example of the kind of imagery I can create when the setting, light, styling and willingness for a little more direction all come together.

Most of my real wedding work is relaxed and documentary-led, with portraits kept natural and easy. But if you’re drawn to a slightly more editorial feel, Wynyard Hall is a venue that lends itself beautifully to that approach.

If you’re planning a wedding at Wynyard Hall and want photography that blends honest storytelling with refined, editorial portraits, I’d love to hear more about your plans.

Below are some of my favourite images from this chic Wynyard Hall editorial shoot.
