The 35mm Analogue Film Look Without the Slow, Unpredictability of Real Film
01. The FauxFilm™ Edit Collection
The FauxFilm™ Edit Collection is an optional add-on for couples who love the nostalgic look of 35mm film, but still want the speed, consistency and reliability of a digital wedding gallery.
It gives a selected set of your wedding photographs a more analogue-inspired finish, with deeper contrast, visible grain, muted tones, imperfect texture, and that slightly nostalgic feeling people often associate with old film photographs.
It isn’t designed to replace your main wedding gallery.
Your full gallery is still edited in my signature SABLE™ style, clean, refined, consistent and timeless. FauxFilm™ is an additional collection, created separately for the images that suit that look best. Think of it as a curated second edit.
A little more nostalgic. A little more imperfect. A little more like something found in an old family album.
02. Why FauxFilm™ instead of real film?
Real film is beautiful, but it comes with limitations.
It’s slower, more expensive, less predictable, and the final result depends on many things outside the photographer’s control, including film stock, lighting, scanning, development, lab handling and even simple human error.
At a wedding, where moments happen once and can’t be repeated, I prefer the reliability of digital capture. Digital gives me the speed, flexibility and security I need to document the day properly. It means I can react quickly, work in changing light, back everything up safely, and still deliver a full, consistent gallery.
FauxFilm™ gives you the feeling of film without relying on the unpredictability of actual film. You still get the nostalgia, grain and character, but with the control and care of a digital workflow. It’s the best of both worlds.
03. What you get with the FauxFilm™ Edit Collection
The FauxFilm™ Edit Collection includes up to 100 images from your wedding gallery, edited with an analogue-inspired finish.
This can be created as a colour collection, a black and white collection, or a mixture of both.
Not every image suits the film look, so I’ll choose the photographs that work best with the style. Usually, that means images with strong emotion, interesting light, movement, atmosphere, flash, texture, portraits, dance floor moments, and quieter in-between frames.
Typically I shoot 100 images on your wedding day intentionally for this edit using closed down apertures like F/8 and F/11. These 100 images are then added to your main full gallery to create an artistic portfolio of your wedding.

The original SABLE™ edit is clean, refined and true to my main wedding style.
The FauxFilm™ version leans into a more nostalgic look, with contrast, point and shoot-inspired tones, visible grain and a slightly more imperfect finish.
The images below were mostly photographed at smaller apertures, around f/8 and above, to help create that deep-focus, point-and-shoot feel often associated with 35mm film cameras.
I’ll intentionally photograph around 100 images throughout the day with this final look in mind, ready to be converted into your analogue-inspired edit collection.
